Free Surface Velocity Measures of Granular Flows Using MRI at New Mexico Resonance
We find, consistent with surface measurements of the
free surface velocity in the horizontal drum, that as the rotation rate is increased the
symmetric profile becomes skewed toward the downstream end of the flow. This is due
to particles accelerating beyond the midpoint at higher rotation rates before beginning
to slow down due to the endwall.
